A Softer World found a life on the highway. [Jul. 8th, 2009|01:59 pm]

Here is today's comic! Thank you for reading!

Roger Langridge writes and draws The Muppet Show comic, which is oh my god so good, but he also has a book with Fantagraphics, called "Fred the Clown" which I bought because I love his Muppet Show comic so much. (It and "Seaguy: Slaves of Mickey Eye" are the best comics of the year I think!) and Fred the Clown has made me laugh pretty hard! There's a section of fake newspaper ads, and the want-ads are so funny, oh god. I will not type them all out, but my favourite is "DAFT OLD BUGGER can't find his house. Help. (Box 2)"

So I had the brilliant idea that I should take my alt and powerlevel mining. 5.5 hours later I am at 225 and Fucking Done. For those nearly 6 hours I forgot that this was supposed to be enjoyable and not a job. I have remembered my purpose now. In my defense, the first 125 points went super-fast.

Guess I'll have to mooch off of guildies for titanium ore now!

My next post will be better. In fact, I will post a pic of an awesome dog from the animal shelter like a year ago...

75 lbs and his favorite thing to do was jump on people and wrap his front legs around in a sort of hug. :3

Climb on [Jul. 7th, 2009|06:56 pm]

On the yesterday, Alex further justified the need to move the mattress down in the crib.  Exhibit A.

"I wonder what the bottom of this basket tastes like..."

"Too far!  Abort!  Abort!

"Well, at least these underoos are clean.  Soft too, maybe I'll just take a nap."

But to prove no lasting ill effects, today he was marching around the living room as usual.  I'm not sure who he was trying to hide from, but he got busted before completely vanishing.

An interview at Bookslut [Jul. 6th, 2009|09:51 am]

Here is an interview that I did with Adam Morgan over at Bookslut. There were lots of questions about formative writerly influences, and so I talked about video games and Tupac and can-lit written by a 15 year old Gordon Korman.

Last night's dream found me in Germany with a diplomat, where we were buying or blackmailing him. Something pretty much shady and illegal, and I wound up with a duffel bag with a lot of money and a backpack with some classified documents. I got to the airport to take my flight back, but by the time I worked everything out it was just 15 min before the flight and I missed it. I realized this was a good thing, because, after thinking about it for a bit, I probably didn't want to just hop onto a plane while holding a few million in illegal bills and some government documents.

I saw Public Enemies last night. It was okay!

How does independence include tieing me down? [Jul. 5th, 2009|06:56 pm]

crvz
Had a great time at the SBH (Matt's teaching me that acronyms are all the rage) for Independence Day, which included a box full of fireworks.  It'd been too any years since I'd lit any fuses, so I was excited to make the voyage.  Alex was so excited that he didnt want to nap in lieu of missing out on fun, so we decided the swing would be an amicable compromise.  He loved it, so to any grandparents listening, he may need one of his own after any upcoming moves (or Thursdays, your choice).

And for Adam, so he knows, I was singing loud; "we blew up their ship..... WITH AND A-BOMB!!!"

So I just had this dream that I was with friends at an anime convention. Except then I was in a slasher film with a couple people, talking with the protagonist and sidekick about who was going to die. I was like, "F that," and we were searching around this house to try and find the killer's identity. Then we ran into him and they were like "oh shit, run" and I was like, "F that," and I reached up and grabbed his mask and pulled it off. And underneath his mask his face was painted to look like the mask, which is all sorts of weird. He said something to the effect of, "now I have to kill you all today," and I was like, "F that," and I started beating the fuck out of him like Condemned 2. Except I couldn't kill him with my hands so I was dragging him all over the house looking for something to finish him off. I remember saying to the other guys, "I need an insta-kill!"

Then I woke up and like 5 seconds later I went, "three point choke. Of course!" Funny how the obvious can be so elusive.

Why have Spoon Man, Man in the Box, and Sweet Child of Mine been played like every time I listen to the radio this past week?

It was good to get out of the house for July 4th.

Things are still not getting done fast enough but I don't seem to have much free time wtf.

This next week there will be a focus on getting my insurance stuff fixed so I can finish these cholesterol pills, get some MRIs, and maybe even sign up for physical therapy without being bankrupted. And the lab report and thesis........

Oh, and I read a thread about giving special instructions to pizza delivery people. Apparently you can sometimes get them to do shit because they figure they will get a larger tip. For instance, one guy made a horned viking hat and spear out of a pizza box when he delivered it.

Also, if you use an online order system like Dominoe's, I guess you can specify shit like "no sauce, no cheese, beef on half." And They Will Do It.

So how about those Mets ending up in the same Pittsburgh hotel as Anthrocon? And I heard the same thing happened to another team 2 years ago. Shit, I should have the job of reserving hotels for professional athletes: I'm sure it pays great, and I would ask all the important questions like, "are the beds nice? are the prices good? are there any other conventions going on that could maybe get in the way of my team's focus on the upcoming game?"

Hey, how is Conan O'Brien doing? Is Andy Richter with him again?

PS: Oh no, here comes the crippling depression that can only come from playing like 6 hours of computer games in a day and not socializing! But I accomplished so much on my to-do list! Also: absolutely jack shit planned for July 4th. That probably has something to do with it, as well.

A Softer World - Don't stop believing. Hold on to that feeeeeeeeling! [Jul. 3rd, 2009|09:32 am]

http://www.asofterworld.com/index.php?id=456

Today is a good day to just start over. Be wary of saving too much money, because disaster could strike at any time, and I'm pretty sure heaven is just you sitting there wishing you'd bought an XBOX because it turns out you can take it with you, but there's nothing to buy in the great beyond. Be on the lookout for a new love! Everyone has kisses. Who is going to slip one into your pocket when you aren't looking? Your lucky numbers this week are: 1,2,3, all the way up to infinity. I am just saying. Shit is going to go good for you. Open your mouth! Get ready!
