I am going on a trip
I am getting in my stupid little car.  I am packing a typewriter, a guitar, and some clothes.  I am heading west out of Houston until I feel good about myself, and then I'm turning around.

The only problem: I don't know where to go or what to do!  Should I come visit you?  Should I stop somewhere along the way?  Do you want to come along?

My only plan so far is to leave on Tuesday morning and be back Friday night.  I'm going to stop in Denton, TX either on the way out or on the way back.

That's it!  It's kind of a spiritual journey?

I need suggestions!

Sweet!@ I think, if you find yourself taking a break at some tiny half-village somewhere, don't go in asking everyone where the wireless hotspots are.

The big issues, I think, are finding places to sleep and to shower, and I'm not good at that sort of thing. The truckers seem to get by ok, though, so maybe you could read up on how they do it.

How would you hit Denton going west on the way out? Or is it more of a metaphorical John Soule kinda west?

That said, you could come to the midwest. The heart of America, where the real Americans live. South-central Indiana is about to get pretty real soon when everything starts blooming.

I am a big fan of Denton. :)

Here are some Texas places, westward, which I would consider roaming to:
the San Antonio missions
Shiner, TX
Blue Bell Factory - Brenham, TX - I enjoy the tour. It's really fun to watch the machinery.
Dublin Dr Pepper - the DP museum in Waco sucks, avoid. I haven't been here yet.
Fredericksburg, TX / the Texas Hill Country Known for its peaches (which I guess are not in season yet). Pick your own fruit (all you can eat until it's time to check out). Quaint part of TX. Should be B&Bs around, if you're into that sort of thing.
Texas Hill Country Wineries
